Thanksgiving Placecards

Today I got to hang out with the best kids ever, my niece(5) and nephew(7). The kids were super excited to do arts and crafts and wanted a Thanksgiving-themed project.  The kids were excited to run around gathering pine cones for their big idea.  One of the greatest parts of being an artist is knowing you can help someone create anything they dream of.  As we gathered the pine cones we each created jobs for us to work on.  JP created a sketch of what he wanted, Bella counted  the pine cones, finding the best ones for the guest of Thanksgiving dinner.  The kids were fully engaged in their tasks while aunt Jenn prepped the next steps.  The result is the cutest turkey place cards I have seen.

What you need:
Pine  cones
Twigs (for legs)
Leaves (for feathers)
Paper in 3 different colors
Googly eyes
Glue

Begin with creating the turkey head.  Cut out 2 turkey heads, waddle and beak.  Glue beak and waddle in between to opposing side heads.   Take the pine cones and place the leaves in the back and twigs from the center front and the turkey head to the top front.  I used hot glue to adhere.  ut out a 1x 4 inch white piece of card stock with names of guest placed on it and put in center of turkey back.  The kids maintained attention for about 12 turkeys.
